I grew up hunting and fishing on my grandparents farm in central Missouri where I still do a lot of my hunting and fishing today. Both my father and grandfather were great in teaching me about the outdoors. Like many kids who started hunting at a young age, I learned a lot about hunting by pursuing squirrels and chasing rabbits with my dollar store stick bow. As I grew older, I found my new passion, turkey hunting. I still remember sitting in a blind with my dad spring turkey season. I was still pretty young and I called in my first turkey with a box call. It turned out to be a hen, but I was hooked. About 12 years ago, a friend convinced me to pick up the old stick n' string again.  I had an old hand me down Hoyt that looked more like a long bow with wheels compared to todays bows. But that was the beginning of a passion for hunting that quickly turned to an obsession.  I couldn't get
enough of it. I still love chasing turkeys as much as I did 20 years ago, but bow hunting took it to another level. I enjoy getting as close as I can to big game with a bow. I'm always in pursuit for that Pope and Young monster, but I still get a huge rush taking a doe with a bow as I would a 160" brute.  Becoming a member of the Heartland Hunter Prostaff is really just the icing on the cake, because, we have the opportunity to share with friends our experiences in the outdoors, both good and bad. I always felt the unsuccessful pursuits in the woods made better stories than the successful ones. Enjoy our site, and feel free to e-mail us anytime.
